Almost missed this little fellow, as he decided to skip off as I snapped!

Come on Bird Brains, let's get an i.d.! A few clues - photoed today, regular in my garden...

Hi Jos
Starter for 10 is European Robin?

The south end of a northbound bird? ;)

Nope, but could be the northend of a southbound bird ;) Actually, this is a good clue, 'cos up here in LT many species have already gone south ....and, sorry Jules, that includes Robins.

Look carefully at the very right of the picture!

Marsh Tit (unless pale wing-panel of Willow Tit became invisible or I mixed names)

:)

No sign of any wing bars so I'm with jurek- Marsh or Willow.

Funny my first thought before Robin was Crested Tit but the way it was dropping off the fence put me off. Of the Marsh/Willow issue, I would also say Marsh, wouldn't a Northern Willow Tit look paler than that.

Sombre Tit??

Sombre Tit??
I don't think sombre tits are found in Lithuania. Aren't they a SE European species?

Katy Penland

Whitethroat! ...? Er, a white-throated tit? As in long-tailed tit?

My mistake - should have looked where Lithuania was!!!!

In that case - Coal Tit

I would go for blue tit too but as Jason is the only one to suggest this (I think), that makes me automatically wrong because Jos says two got it right.

, H! I'm 1 for 4 in another thread. Don't know why I keep going through all these masochistic motions when I clearly suck at photo IDing, but I can't stay away. Hope springs eternal. (o)<

Thanks Jos
Strange how in birding you should trust your first instincts, and try not to be too analytical. Nice second photo by the way.

You managed to make a complete Parus out of almost everybody!
Good bird for your garden.

Be an amazing bird for my garden.
No way of Faxing it over is there?

Very nice bird for the garden, but have been daily for the last few years at the feeders - currently have two pairs ...always come in pairs, quite noisy so hear them before they arrive. One of the pairs is a returning pair from last winter (ringed).

Yeah, sure it'd be quite an addition down there in Starcross, I'll see what I can do - though not so sure squashed Crested Tit (after stuffed through a fax) would be quite so appealing :)
