HI, a friend needs help to choose a field guide for SE Asia. Which one do you think is the best? HeŽll be visiting Thailand and Laos.
Thanks

Bar far the best is the Robson Birds of South-East Asia published by New Holland.

Laos appears a relatively un-birded place - it would be great to get some good reports from there as I'm sure its full of good birds. Hoping to be there myself in the spring

ground-roller is absolutely right, Robson is, to the best of my knowledge, the only book that covers all of SE Asia. For Thailand only "A Giude to the Birds off Thailand" by Lekagul and Round is also very good (and there is a Robson guide for Thailand as well).

Just returned from Vietnam where the book i took
A Photgraphic Guide to the birds of South East Asia (Morton Stange) looked good when I got it but found that half the birds I saw were not in it or not clearly indicated.

The good thing about it was it fitted into a pocket.

- A reasonable book for a second opinion. perhaps
