Hi All,
This is not a trip report but a request for information. I am off to Rhodes, Greece in June next year - not the best month to go, however it is based around my girlfriends law degree and her need for the hotter months!
I am going to pretty much be based in Lindos for the whole week so was wondering if anyone has any news from this area at the time of year I plan on visiting?
Many thanks in anticipitation.
Cheers
Matt

I thought the birding on Rhodes was excellent. Please try to find out about the Cyprus Pied Wheatear site near Kalithea. I forgot to visit the quarry site but there was supposed to be a singing bird there the year before I think. My trip list from May 2000 with some video grabs of variable quality.

I liked Lindos but it will be flaming hot there in June. It might be seem a bit dude, but take the glass-bottom boat trip from Lindos. The english guy who ran it is a character and it is very entertaining.

Thank you Brian. I imagined it would be pretty hot - perfect for my girlfriend, but not ideal for the birding unfortunately! Nevermind, I think I am going to hire a car for a day or so and hope to do some exploring.
Cheers

Hi Latho,I was there last october,to be honest the birds were poor,I hired a motorbike and rode around the island. There are pockets of reeds near the airport but is uninspiring.Rhodes town is lovely,Lindos however was overrated, you must visit Pefkos though 3Kms south(where we were based)I think is most scenic spot on island, backed by huge rockface where I occasionally watched passing raptors, indeed a walk into the area produced close Long legged Buzzard family and a Dead Waterail amongst the dry scrub! Sure you will enjoy yourselves as we did :)
