I'm currently considering flying into Murcia in late February (?) for a week's holiday. Anyone had any luck with Dupont's Lark? I gather they breed in March, but when do they start singing? Any info on the area (say c100 miles radius from Murcia) in February would be welcome,
John

Hi John
I believe they are like Rocking Horse S**te around there, if at all. I still need Dupont's and talking to well established birders around Alicante, Belchite is the place for this species, couldn't you go to Barcelona instead. I am also planning a trip for this species in early Spring so keep in touch.

When I was thinking of looking for Dupont's around there a couple of years ago I got the impression that people very rarely had much success and that you were much better going to Belchite or somewhere else in the north.

Trouble is I've been to Belchite (albeit in August) and dipped. For some strange reason the 'other half' isn't too keen on wandering round the wasteland that is Belchite again! Flights to Murcia allow us to explore a 'new' part of Spain. Perhaps I'll leave it to April/May and look in thge Sepulveda area (N of Madrid),

Another option for Dupont's Lark in Spain: Navarre.
Try at Bardenas Reales or Ablitas
Hope this helps
