I visited Itatiaia NP and Serra dos Tucanos lodge in the Orgaos NP area from November 3 to the 13th. 290 species recorded including 79 of a possible 102 endemics.
The big news while I was there was the discovery of a new site, accessible by car, for the very difficult Grey-winged Cotinga.
Serra dos Tucanos is a wonderful place for the independant birder. Owner Andy Foster found the Cotinga and can take you to see that rarity and many others. To visit all the habitats around the area would take about 6 days.
