Hello, all.
I'm brand new to birding. I've been a backyard astronomer for a few years, and thus am well accustomed to finding beauty through binos or a scope.
I'll need to start by getting the right binos; my astronomy binos are much too big (objectives 70 mm and 100mm in diameter, for max light gathering). Also would like to get some starter binos for my 4 yr old daughter, who loves birds,

Hi, Bassethound! Welcome to BirdForum!
When I bought starter bins for my two great-nephews, I just got the cheapest pairs at WalMart, which were about $39/pair if I remember. They weren't great by *our* standards, of course, but it sure was exciting to the boys. Of course, I think they used it to scope out spiders and stuff much more than birds. LOL!
Look forward to hearing about all your new birding adventures!
