I was in Barnegat, NJ, USA today and twice during the day saw large "V" formations of birds flying south. They were so high up we could barely see them with our eyes in spite of clear skies. With a pair of binos, they appeared white with dark color at ends of wings. The body shape was similar to Canada Goose or some kind of swan, but the color seemed wrong for Canada Goose. Any ideas what they were?

Thank you!

Perhaps snow geese. Brigantine refuge can have bazillions. Cup your hands behind your ears and listen for their call. And enjoy crabs, pizza, Dunkin Donuts, and real sub sandwiches. I miss N.J. Grew up there................Chris

Hi Godana!

I see you've been around for a bit but not received a proper welcome so welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum.

I'm originally from Staten Island and spent much time in your area. Beautiful area for birdwatching.

I just looked it up in the book. You're right - definitely Snow Geese, white phase. New bird for me! And I was just out helping a friend get his boat out of the water for the winter. You just never know what you're going to see. Thanks for the help. --G
