I currently have a Great Tit visiting my garden in full adult plumage but with the yellow almost totally washed out. Is this common with this species?

Hi Paul, locally there is a massive tit population and I have noted quite a lot of variations in plumage colouration. I've seen them as you describe, I guess it is similar to the way we human have different coloured hair? The 'bib' markings vary often as well, some long and thin others short and wide.

AFAIK, the 'bibs' represent gender differences, the ones with the more obvious bibs being male.
