Heard a large flock of geese flying right over the house. They were flying quite high and couldn't find them at first against a clear blue sky but finally spotted several rather loose "V"'s' of Snow Geese heading South-Southeast over western Houston. Estimate the flock at between 300 and 350. Some dark birds mixed in which I assume were dark juveniles, probably one out of every 20; but that's a very rough estimate. they were out of site within 20-30 seconds or so.

Saw a small group of 7 flying much lower yesterday heading Southwest.

I love the sounds of the geese and swans in the spring migration.

I think I will go down to the River on Monday and check it out.

Tundra Swans yet?

Stay safe.

More likely 'Blue' phase birds - the juveniles will have largely moulted into adult plumage by now (and if there was only 1 in 20 dark birds, it would have been a very poor breeding season!)
