I am currently using a Canon A95 with a Kowa Adaptor on my Kowa TSN823 with 32w eyepiece. My question is does anyone know of a suitable remote shutter release so that I can minimize camera shake?

Hi CB,
Andy Bright's site www.digiscoped.com (http://www.digiscoped.com/) refers to two items which will do the job.
Both Jessops and Eagle Eye UK do cable release adaptor brackets which allow you to attach a cable release very effectively - have a look on this page for details:

I use the Eagle Eye item on my Canon A95 with no problems.

Hi Crosby Birder
Stuck with the same problem as you with no remote release for the A95.
I decided to make my own. i didn't like the look of the commercial offerings, with the shutter release being on an angle.
i have posted three pics of the remote Mk1 it looks a bit heath robinson but is made from 0.40mm nickel silver sheet with a 4ba nut for the remote cable.
There is a piece of square brass rod down the side to stiffen up the side cheek and a small web at the fold to the release platform. the whole lot is locked into place with a small tripod release plate and a temporary measure is a cocktail stick through the neckstrap lug.
the problem with this set up is you have to remove the remote Mk1 to replace the batteries and card. However with using a 256mg card (99) photos
and 2000mh batteries this set up allowed me a full afternoon digiscoping without having to make any changes.
i'm glad i made my own as using the remote plunger does offer up some problems id you do not get it right in the centre.
pm if you need any further info

Clever stuff, Geoff!
I have to say though, that it's very easy to get round any issues with the angled shutter release.
I simply jammed a rubber bead (what anglers refer to as a "shock bead") onto the plunger.
Because it's rubber it grips the shutter release - the plunger won't "skitter around" on the top of it; it prevents scratching of the release; and because the bead is about 5 or 6mm in diameter, it covers most of the release button, means that accurate lining up is far less of an issue (get it thereabouts once and forget about it).
There's no need to glue the bead onto the plunger either - the bore is narrow enough to create a nice tight fit - and because they're dead cheap and come in a bag of 20 or so, losing the odd one is of no concern (but it can't fall off while the shutter release bracket is on the camera).

Keith
i like the idea of the shock bead, I had tried pencil rubbers but they kept coming loose. There is small piece of velco pad stuck to the shutter release. I'll try the shock bead.
Bought the A95 after reading everyones praise in BF, it's excellent but could have been brilliant if there was raw files saved a few pence off the price of the camera but spoilt it with no raw files

Thanks for the suggestions, as I am not really "handy" when it comes to manufacturing, I will probably go down the route of ordering a Jessops release adaptor bracket.
Thanks for your help.

I bought the jessops for mine a couple of weeks ago, I works fine and I am reasonably happy with it. Think I have to give the bead a try too!.
