Is there anyone out there who would be kind enough to let me have a photo of their ED78 in its case, showing how all the "flaps" work? I would like to have a go at making one myself, but don't know anyone who has got one I can get a pattern from.

Chris

Try Pm' ing ED78 User who has previously posted photographs of the case and it's packaging etc. - I'm sure he would oblige with the details.

If successful, when are you taking orders? - I've just ordered the Opticron equivalent and the other half will be working on a way to get it logo'd up for Nikon!

I hate compromise :C

Wonderful, thanks for your help. Everything looks fairly clear, and I have PMd ED78user to ask him to clarify something for me. Now, to get some waterproof material, padding, zips, velcro etc........... oh, and a "Nikon" badge! ;)

If it turns out OK I'll put some photos on BF. If it doesn't you'll never hear from me again!

Don't forget the promise you made regarding making them for all of us if successful. Ok I might have made the promise on your behalf, Chris, but now is not the time to be splitting hairs when there's a Nikon SOC at stake.

Update!

My ED78 is now all "Opticroned Up" - i.e. protected against the elements and scratches etc. The ES80 cover fits snug. Pity about not having the Nikon badge but I'm sure it can be added or placed over the Opticron one if necessary, fortunately, I'm not too bothered about the brand...I'd have bought Swaro If I was;-)

Seriously though, if you want to go out and about and not be afraid to use the ED78 this case will protect it. Certainly better than crossed fingers.

Got the photos, got the material, got the zips....... just need the wadding and I'll be all set. Hope to have my case made by the weekend, when I go away to sunny Derbyshire! Will let you know how it turns out.............keep your fingers crossed!
