My trusted 990 died. The price to fix is more than I can replace via Ebay. I have a cp5000 which (for me) was less than satisfactory with my scope. In that I have to replace, my question is....What camera? Another 990 or is there another camera that is better?....
Thanks for your replies....

I've been playing lately with the CP8400, and found it suitable for Swaro, Leica and Nikon FS scopes. Did you consider the obsolete CP4500?

From my own experience I still find the CP4500 gives the best results overall but the Contax SL300RT runs it a very close second for image quality if not actually better in some circumstances. In any case way out performs the CP4500 for speed of operation and ease of use. It's certainly a better performer than the CP990 in every respect apart from the battery issue. You do need spares / power pack.
Apart from them then other people are getting very good results with the Kyocera versions of the 300RT and even the U4R from Contax.
The Canon A95 has it's followers though I have never tried it and Olympus has the C5060 which again seems to priduce decent results.
I am sure there are other models that are suitable as well.

First of all, thanks to all that have responded. Is the scope/camera combination important. I have a Pentax PF80EDA.
Been looking at a 4500. Thanks again...Mick
