Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone has spotted any good deals on the coolpix 4500 yet?
I did see one at warehouse express where they dropped the price to 489 but it was only for the weekend just gone.
Has anyone spotted anymore?
Thanks
Pete.

ooo thats a grey import aint it,
and you might have to pay import duty on it...
think I will steer clear of that one .
thanks though.
hopefully tomorrow the 4500 will plummet in price :)

What is included in the South West Optics deal? Have you tried Kelkoo for comparison, some firms offer good packages such as extra free software and additional memory cards. I will keep you posted if you keep me posted as I am lookign to buy a 4500. I saw a 990 today and did not like it compared to the 4500.

Hello andrew
nothing is included unfortunately, just your bog standard stuff.
I also noticed in warehouse express they have that wierd weekend deal on for the 4500 it too is at 489.
Think I will get mine from south west and just try and pick up a compact flash 256 mb card from ebay for about 40 quid.
:)
really want to get mine now, I was watching a male eider today he was screaming to be digiscoped :))
heh

I have seen some at £514 at best on the price search sites but nothing to beat South West Optics. It is a wrench having to wait till March though. Where did you get this info about the March price. Have you tried some of the links to guernsey accessory shops mentioned somewhere on this forum, supposed to be good for cheap battery packs, memory cards, etc... I have posted an email to someone asking about the camera and connector, will keep you posted.

PS : If you have a Jessops they say they will match any price you are quoted so you could save on postage there.

Andrew where did you find out about the Jessops offer, I am hoping to buy one early March and from Jessops, as its the local shop, and not that expensive (also have my current Digi Cam to trade in). But if they will match prices I will search for the cheapest and take it to them.
Andrew
Sunday 23rd February 2003, 00:28
That's what the dealer said to me on Wednesday. I went in today and tested them by throwing in a fake price of £514 with 32MB card extra and free accessories and they were quick to match it so I reckon I can squeeze a few more quid off them.

I went into Jessops yesterday and quoted Park Camera and told them they would offer me the camera for £468 and they agreed. I then told them I could get the 128 Mb Lexar Compact 12x Flash card extra for £504.99 and it worked. Actually the original deal was a basic 128Mb card. Got a USB reader and Lowepro case cheap too.

glad Jessops matched Parkcameras price what adapter have you got or intend to get.
Andrew
Saturday 1st March 2003, 23:25
I am leaving that until a lot later cos I have 'liquidated my assets' too much and need to wait abit. It is better this way then I can get used to the camera as a camera not a digiscope first. At the moment I seem to be favouring the LCE one as most folk here say it's the cheapest and best.

Saturday 1st March 2003, 23:27
thats a good idea andrew, by the way
what scope will you be using?
and have you got all your gear now?
Ive got bits coming from southwest optics, ebay and photosolve now, I dont have any of it yet :))
Im crossing my fingers it comes this week as im off work. pleaaaaaseee come.

Andrew,
have you posted any pictures yet?
(my scope and camera should be here friday ive just been told,
my compact flash card has arrived though :) :)

Tuesday 4th March 2003, 18:05
Shamefully, I have still got the camera in the box. I have had it out a few times (no not that you rude people) and taken a few pictures around the house and garden and the zoom is brilliant when using the 4x digital on top. I could see the whole room and then zoomed in on my BF cap and could read the writing on the back! I tried some hand held scope shots and sadly they were no good. Need to study the camera when I have one or two days of no jobs to do whihc is never!! LOL. I will begin reading the manual in between stuff though.
I think I will go to 7dayshop.com for extra cards (Three 64Mb for the price of two) and spare batteries (£15 I think).
peteh
Tuesday 4th March 2003, 18:31
Check on ebay for compact flash cards andrew, I got a 128mb 30x card for 30 quid.
I read some of the alternative batteries are quite bad at holding charge and things like that, so I paid the extra for a proper nikon one. Dont want the batteries playing up when I'm miles from home and about to take a picture of a magnificent frigatebird or something! heh :)
Ashley I've seen in another thread you have recieved your camera, have you had any luck yet?
Andrew
Tuesday 4th March 2003, 18:53
Wow, a 30 speed CF for 30 quid! I will look it up. How much are the Nikon batteries round your way. Here they are about £25 for a Jessops one.
peteh
Tuesday 4th March 2003, 21:05
39.99 it was for the nikon battery.. Most places I looked were that price.
I was weighing up a spare battery or a dual force power thingy.
But in the end went for the battery, less things to trip over :)

Unfortunatly it arrved Monday but I am working nights so I'm asleep during the best light :o( I am however off to Norfolk at the weekend so I will be trying it properly then, It does seem better for digiscoping than my last one, but a lot more compliated. I am still waiting on my adapter tube from LCE they are out of stock at the moment but should be getting them in in a day or 2 and then dispatching it, so I am having to hand hold it, which is OK but I don't appear to have a very steady hand, I have followed Andy Brights setting instructions and am getting better but it will take time unfortunatly.

Im going to go and have a go at handheld digiscoping, get used to all those menus and options.
If I get any visible pictures I will post them tonight. :))

all this talk of a 4500 got my mouth watering. one thing is i have no scope as yet!!.
would it be possable to fit the 4500 onto one side of a Leica Duovid, just short term to play around with.
i was thinking of a Minolata with a bigger lens but reading the advise on here i will now be looking at the Nikon.
thanks for all the help, this is the best site i have come across with everyone so helpful

I've just got a 4500 so any beginners club idea would be perfect for me as I am amazed at how much there is to learn. Not exactly point and shoot stuff is it.
p.s. Andrew I will bring it down to Devon and maybe we can make mistakes together!!!

New Coolpix 4500 owners club? I'll be in it!
I got mine two days ago. Paid about $AU1300 for it - doubtless I could have got it cheaper, but I like to buy locally where I can and they had it in stock. Besides, after paying for a scope earlier this week, the camera seemed cheap
(Scope will arrive tommorow, I hope.)
For the adaptor, I went for the Swarovski. Stupid price, but at least they had one in Sydney, which is a whole lot closer to me than London or Finland. I'll post pictures of it when it arrives. From the smallish snaps I've seen on the web, it looks much the same as the LCE one.

Hi, try www.pricerunner.co.uk, then on the search space type in Nikon Coolpix 4500, this will give you all options and deals available even if you want to go for a higher MB card. My hubby is thinking of the Canon Power Shot G3 because the battery life is longer and seemily getting 'brightness' is better but we ourselves have to find out what adapters are available. My husband was thinking of an Olympus model not out yet but the helpline was not at all helpfull. Good luck with your search, try also Kelkoo search engine as well.

Don't know what the Jessops price is for the 4500, but they'll match that Amazon price - they did with my Canon G3, saving me £130 on their normal price.

I've got a coolpix 4500 coming from Amazon for £428 also a 128 mb card for £27 and the case to carry it all for £12.99. All post free.
Have just purchased a Kenco 6X converter ready to screw into the Coolpix direct with 28mm thread from Keene Electronics for £89.99 and already it seems pretty good on my camcorder even with a step up ring, so expecting to get good digiscoping results with the coolpix kit when it all arrives next week.

Hi all
Last night I was doing a search on the lowest prices for the Nikon cp4500 & found this site www.nomatica.com selling them for £408.The photo they show of this camera is one with a RED stripe, however other Nikons on this site are pictured with a PURPLE stripe(grey imports).Anyway i`ve Emailed them asking them if the cp4500 is a genuine UK import or not & am waiting a reply.
