Greetings on this 32F (0C) day. Chickadee's calling at first light, that moments later proved to be Black-Capped Chickadee's working the tree's around my arctic entry. After a couple weeks absence, a couple Redpolls arrived--almost acting like little scouts for an impending invasion. Will have to keep an eye out. A short bit ago, a half dozen Pine Grosbeaks worked their way through the yard. A nice winter's day in the yard... Happy Trails, Mike

Hi Mike,

I miss chickadees..... at the cottage, I had dozens of them. Here, I see 1-3 once in a while but haven't even seen one in over a week now. :(
I've still got loads of redpolls, with pine and evening grosbeaks. I think the redpolls and pine grosbeaks are loading up in preparation for migrating starting next month, likely.
Have to fill the feeders again tomorrow!

Hey T--I hear you on the filling the feeders. Without the redpolls the past couple weeks, I haven't had to fill the feeders constantly. While I was away this afternoon, the little horde must have shown up--as the feeder was cleaned out...ah, our fine feathered friends! I have enjoyed the number of chickadee's that have shown up in the absence of the redpolls tho... Onward, Mike
