Hi

I am new to digiscoping and I have seen this kit, (Opticron Kyocera digital compact camera kit). Which will fit my Opticron scope. My problem is how good and how easy is this to use for a novice like me.Has anyone used this kit. I would appreciate their advice.

I have not used it myself, but I saw it set up at an In-Focus shop, and the set up was easy. The chap took a few photos with it, and they looked fine to me. They were of static things out of the window, but they were good and clear. The whole rig is very simple, and the camera is firmly fixed to the scope.

In my opinion it would be a good setup if you are only just starting as it means you can just get out and start taking pictures. No messing about trying to make, or buy the right adapters etc as it is designed to use with opticron scopes. I can't remember exactly how much the kits are, but I remember them being very reasonable.

I would give the guys at In-Focus a ring, they are very helpful, and have time to chat to you about products which they do know about.

At £349 it's a bit steep. The camera is £199 at Jessops though possibly cheaper elsewhere. The plastic rings can be obtained from Kyocera for £5 each, An adaptor for your scope from either London Camera Exchange or SRB Film £35-£55. 8 X 2000 mha batteries plus charger £20 from Jessops. 256mb high speed SD card £23 from Amazon. An external pack to hold 4 rechargeable batteries from me for just £5. A cable release strap also from me for just £5. All this just for £315 tops.

Update the camera is just £179 at LCE and the adaptors for Opticron scopes are £50.
