coming from work I saw a Green Woodpecker on the ground in a park here.

As I had only seen a Green Woodpecker twice, (once 2 years ago and by some strange coincidence another just 20 minutes before I saw this one) I got off my bicycle to have a good look at it.

As the water in this park was frozen most Ducks, Moorhens and Coots were feeding on the grass. A Coot, who was feeding not far from this Green Woodpecker, saw it and came over to have a look at it, unfortunately for me it then flew away.

Hi ronald I've been wanting to see a green woopecker for ages,haven't managed it in
two years of bird watching. lots of pepole say they see them on the ground just have

Great stuff Ronald ..... I love Green Woodies. Lucky enough to get them in the garden but still never tire of watching them.

had 'em in the garden 1nce but dont see them regulary only wheni go on holiday to bournemouth by the river stour.

The other Green Woodpecker I saw when I left work.

I work on the outskirts of Rotterdam and across from where I work is a not much used bicycle path, when I was there suddeny a Green Woodpecker crossed my path just a couple of metres in front of me.
