Can anyone tell me how to tighten the hinge on my Classics? It doesn't seem like it would be very complicated and I don't want to have to send them to Zeiss when I could possibly do it myself.
Thanks for any info

Dear Mr. Mundi,
I suggest that you just send it to Zeiss, if it is a Zeiss USA import. They are experts and assume all responsibility. If you make a mistake, you may void your guarantee. Insured shipping with FEDEX GROUND is about $7.50, a very small price to keep your binocular in good order. I had a small problem, last year, and the turnaround time was about three weeks.

I agree with Arthur that professional service is the way to go.
Hi twitcher I've been using the 10x40 classics for 14 years and have enjoyed every minute of them. They've been in rainstorms and splashing pelagic trips and have never leaked or fogged. You can buy them now for about $750 US which is a brilliant bargain.

Dear Twitcher
I tried the Zeiss 10x40 Classic, and the Leica 10x40 BN. I could hold neither steady without a support. Someone in this forum thought that the 10x40 Classic was easy to hold steady. Some can handle a 10x and others cannot.

Whatever you do, don't try to fix your Zeiss binoculars by yourself. Send them to the Zeiss Optics offices for repair. All optics should be covered by warranty and the repair centers generally return binos in less than a week.
The US Zeiss Sport Optics repair center is in Chester, Va., and they do repairs rather quickly, and with most being done on site. Major repairs are sent to Germany and take longer.
