The 2 White Storks are already guarding their nests in South Bulgaria. On 24.02 47 of these emblematic birds passed over the town of Burgas. With the global warming, these birds may soon be called winter migrants. :-C
Bulgaria has a strategic place for observation the Stork migration. Most of the White Storks from Central and Eastern Europe are using the Via Pontica flyway. Their autumn migration is spectacular. Last year on the 27.08 I recorded 73 000 White Storks passing over the Ravadinovo Village just in one day.

Since during the last years there are individuals of White and Black Storks spending the winter in Bulgaria (even in Northern Bulgaria) storks could be soon considered as partially migrating...who knows!
Hopefully the cold spell these days will not cause any problems to the earliest arrivals!
The migration of soaring birds (storks, pelicans and birds of prey) along the Via Pontica flyway is really a spectacular view one should see at least ones in life! I could only wish everybody to enjoy this miraculous nature phenomenon!
