Yesterday I took a taxi to Downtown Panama City. Traffic was horrible and the combination of summer sun and high humidity made it worst. Sudenly I saw a female Garden Emerald. Perched in a spring of the electrical wire system. ¡Surprise! She was building her nest rigth there. The traffic was so bad that the taxi was still in the best place to watch one of Panama city natural wonders: hummingbirds that survive in the big city.
I will Try to make a picture to post it here.
I just wanted to share this beautifull moment.

Hi Hummerman,

Around the feeders at the bottom of the tower, you'll see about 5-6 species: Snowy-bellied, Rufous-tailed, Blue-chested and Violet-bellied Hummingbirds, White-necked Jacobin and Long-tailed Hermit. You should see a few additional species on your daytrips.

Regards,
Cedric

Hola Venicio,

I just started an ID request thread with a few hummingbird pictures from my last trip to Panama. If you could have a look-see, that would be great. Just do a forum search on "Panama" and you should find the thread. Thanks!

Saludos,
Cedric

Hola Martin,

Glad you will be visiting this tropical paradise we call home.

In addition to the species mentioned by Cedric, at the Canopy feeders you might also find regularly White-vented Plumeleteer.

In the backyard of our field station in the nearby town of Gamboa, we record additionally, Little (Stripe-throated) Hermit, Purple-crowned Fairy, Violet-crowned Woodnymph, and Black-throated Mango.

Don’t hesitate contacting me if you have any questions.

Warm regards,
Guido
