I am looking to buy a camera for digiscoping with my Kowa TS611 scope and have been recommended the fuji finepix s5500. Does anyone have any experience of this camera? Which adapter system would be required? Are there likely to be problems with vignetting?

Welcome too Birdforum ,I think the size of zoom makes it near impossible to digiscope with this camera, more replies to to follow..

Hi Sam ,how are you. I think a refresher trawl though the digiscope threads is called for ..

After listening to and reading lots of advice I finally settled on the coolpix 4500. I have no camera experience, but thanks to Andy Brights advice, from a birdforum thread, on setting up the cp4500 for digiscoping, things are progressing well. I purchased the camera from Microglobe on the web for a very good price (£266 including delivery), it arrived within 24hours of ordering.

I think you made a wise choice mate. I own a Fuji 602 which is very similar to the 5000. I have not found a way to successfully digiscope with it due to its extending lens system and also the diameter of the lens, which even with a Zeiss Scope eyepiece is still to wide. A great camera in all other aspects though.
To solve my problem I bought a Nikon 4500 and found it to be a great little camera. Its robust, solid, can be carried in a pocket easily (which you cannot do with a Fuji!) And works great with all scopes, has brilliant features not present even on the Fuji, and takes great pictures!!
You have made a good decision.... happy digiscoping!!
PS do not get disheartened with your first efforts. I found only maybe two in every 50 were printable, I have a better average now, but even so lots that I think will be good keepers turn out crap!! It doesn't appear to be an exact science, unless your name is Andy Bright (and he wrote the book!!!)
