Hi all,

Can anyone direct me towards a website with an up-to-date binocular comparison chart (i.e. weight/f.o.v/close focus etc).

Would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

Sorry, after a little more digging, I found a post from Justin on high end bin comparisons - http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=20724&highlight=comparison+chart (not sure how to add links, so hope this works).

Cheers,

Eric

Cabelas has an excellent comparison chart at www.cabelas.com and what may be an even better one can be found at www.optics4birding.com

Cabelas has no info on minimum focus and eye-relief! :C
Otherwise, an impressive collection!

Great, I had not realized that this chart was on BF. Thanks for "unearthing" it!

Not sure if it is online but last month's issue of "Birding" published by the American Birding Association had an excellent report that included a chart on binoculars analyzing a number of factors (including those listed) for a wide assortment of binoculars. I was gratified to learn that the bins I have are the best for my needs (wear glasses) in the price range I can afford (least expensive). Barbara

Thanks guys,

Just had a look at the optics4birding site, which was handy for specific comparisons & had more up2date info like the Zeiss 8x32s and the new Busnell Elites. Just need to upgrade to broadband to make the process less painful!

Well, I don't know if all of you get this, but in the 'Winter 2005' issue of LIVING BIRD, a magazine from the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, there is a very good comparison chart of what Kenneth V. Rosenberg considers the top binos in four price ranges: economy, mid-price, top affordable, and top gun.
By the way, the number 1 top gun is the Zeiss FL T* 8x42, and #2, Swarovski EL WB 8x32. Not too surprising, huh?
