I will be having a family holiday around Orlando in April and was just wondering what,if any,my chances are of seeing a Hummingbird(any species). From what I've read, there are no species actually breeding in Florida, but I was wondering about any passing through on migration. Are there any sites more likely than others?
Also, any info on general birding would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Phil

There'll quite likely still be Ruby-throated Hummers passing through - though they may all be females by then, so don't rely on seeing one with a ruby throat.

Look out for hummingbird feeders, or anywhere with large plantings of red or orange flowers

Have seen a breeding pair of R/T Hummers at Corkscrew Swamp reserve a few years ago. Contact the Audubon chapters in florida i.e www.kisameeaudubon.org, they might be able to give you more info, they certainly help me find Crested Caracara.

Ruby-throated Hummers breed in my garden here in North Florida. I should think your chances of seeing them in April are pretty good especially if you head to somewhere like Fort De Soto County Park near St. Petersburg often described as the Cape May of the south (whisper - Its not THAT good but its pretty good!)
