Red-shouldered Hawk

O.K., one more. This one lives in a marshy area about 2 blocks from my home.

Now Paul that is one great looking red shouldered hawk... nice that you got a shot at him as I imagine the heavily treed area plays havoc with your focus.

This one was so close, I was sure he'd fly before I got a shot at him. He was just off the road, maybe 40-50 feet away. Shot from my car window mount, which I had to quickly move to the passenger side. Here's the very next shot. He's posed like a parrot ! And this one gives away the fact that I cloned out a twig in the first one. :-c

Great pictures,thanks for sharing them.I have seen a lot of these in Florida and the colouring here reminded me very much of the ones I have seen.I understood that a paler form was common to Fla.,but I see you are from Alabama?

I guess these are about 14 - 16 inches tall, with a wingspan of about twice that. They are really pretty birds. I certainly appreciate all of the compliments !

Here is another for you Paul. Stunning photos, both of them. The second has got such an inquisitive quality about it that I have pasted it into my wallpaper file. I use this for bird photos that have really impressed me. Every now and again I use one to place onto my desktop. Yours I have put on straight away. It looks superb filling my screen like that.
