Just purchased this Zeiss Scope Diascope 85 Straight Silver. Love it.
Disappointed my Panasonic Digital FZ3 does not appear to work well with this scope. A great camera with 12X zoom but isn't able to see through lens very effectively.
Can you suggest other good digital cameras and model numbers that would work well with this scope.
I purchased the ZEISS Diascope System Quick Camera Adapter which I like the concept.
I want to buy a camera that best matches up with this great Zeiss scope.
Thanks much.

I want to buy a camera that best matches up with this great Zeiss scope.
My very strong personal opinion is that it is the Canon A95. I have also briefly tried the Sony Vx (?), which seems to have even faster autofocus, but I like the exposure controls of the Canon better. In general, cameras with smaller zoom range (3-4x) work best.

This is really nice to hear.. I am ready to purchase this scope as well and I already own a Canon A80.. do you think this canon will work well with the scope? And.. besides the zeiss adaptor.. is there a cheaper alternative that will work? Thx!

I think the A80 uses the same optics as the A95, before the A95 I had the A80. THe only real differences I could see was the smaller LCD, 1.5 inch as opposed to 1.8 and the manual focus magnification box. I don't feel that the A95's 5mp shows any great advatage over the A80's 4mp.
As to the adapter, sorry, cannot help. Try Andy Bright's website, I seem to remember he now uses the Zeiss. To get there, scroll up to the top red bar, select "Resources", Links "Birding Resouces". A link to his site is there.

Don't forget the Nikon Coolpix 4500... I believe that there are some very good deals to be had on this model at the moment. I use it with the Zeiss 85, and the results are excellent. I know it's been around the block a few times, and is being discontinued, but it is, IMHO, still an excellent camera for digiscoping. The limiting factor with my shots is almost always my skill, and not the camera!
