Hi all,
Have the great fortune to be in Barcelona for a few days in the first week of June. The trip is mostly given over to city-based tourism, but I've managed to wangle a day's birding in the general area. Therefore, can anyone suggest one or two good birding localities within a couple of hours' drive of the city?
Many thanks, Simon

Hi Simon
Llobregat Delta just outside Barcelona is fantastic and a must for any travelling birders, also further north just beyond Girona is Aiguamolls de L'Emporda, which is also brilliant. These places can be found and descibed in any decent Spanish site guide or I can give you the e-mail of a local Spanish birder who might give you more information.

Parc Natural del Garraf, 25 minutes S of Barcelona is great for Spectacled and Dartford Warblers, Thekla Lark, Bonelli´s Eagle, Rock and Blue Rock Thrushes, Southern Grey Shrike, Golden Oriole, Bonelli´s Warbler, Red-necked Nightjar, Black-eared Wheatear and many more. It can be easily combined with a visit to Llobregat Delta.
PM if you plan to go there for further info.

Hi Jules and Motmot,
Many thanks for your prompt and informative responses - will be in touch via PM in next couple of days for further information regarding Llobregat Delta and the local birder contact. Certainly sounds as if there will be no shortage of avian delights. Thanks again guys, and speak soon.
Cheers, Simon
