Hi everyone,
I just opened a non-commercial website about birding in the Madrid region, and also the rest of Spain, plus a number of World bird and wildlife photos and trip reports. Latest are Uganda, Southern Morocco, Trinidad & Tobago.
I will appreciate any comments.
Best regards from Spain,
Ignacio

Your website makes very easy reading. Like your picture on your home page as well.
I don't know if you forgot to put a link to it, but I had to get it by clicking on your name then profile and then the website.
Will you be putting something about Mallorca in?

Hi Marmot,
yes I forgot to include the URL in my 1st message, sorry.
I go to Mallorca every summer since my girlfriend's family lives there; this August I'll try to get some photos from the Eleonora's Falcons breeding in the island of Dragonera (a wonderful place, if you've never been there), so I may include some info on it.
Thanks for your comments,
Ignacio

Hola Ignacio,
I enjoyed the web-site. Some useful info and excellent photos. I visit the Alpujarras region in Southern Spain quite often. I'd be interested to hear about any visits to sites in Granada or Almeria provinces that you may have made.
All the best, Des.

Hola Ignacio,
Excellent site, I look forward to reading through it in detail soon. I'm hoping to go to the El Planeron reserve nr Zaragoza in April to have a look for Dupont's Lark among others.
All the best,
Mark

Hi, thanks for your comments.
You should have a great time in Mallorca in May. Dragonera is a small protected island on the western coast; you can take a boat for a day trip from the village of Sant Elm.
Unfortunately Eleonora's Falcon don't arrive to nest until later in summer, but it's a good place to see Marmora's Warbler, and LOTS of extremely tame Podarcis lilfordi lizards (see photo in my web).
Good birding,
Ignacio

Hola Ignacio
An excellent website with some fantastic photos, I am birdwatching in Castilla-La Mancha & Extremadura myself in May, and really looking forward to it.

Congratulations, Ignacio,
A very nice beginning to a very good site. I was especially interested in your photos of Green Honeycreepers at Asa Wright, showing the males in their real-life brilliant turquoise-blue colour.
Unfortunately the illustrations in A Guide to the Birds of Costa Rica repeatedly fail in their accuracy, and this species is represented in that book with a bright green male--quite similarly coloured to a female in real life. The artist simply subdues the female's colouration, which in life is not subdued at all--the female is brilliant green, as is yours in your photo.
I showed your pictures to a friend who will be accompanying me to Costa Rica in July. I asked her to identify your "living" bird by using the illustration in the Costa Rica book. "But it's blue," she said. "Exactly," I said.
Your website is therefore both beautiful and instructive. Thank you.

If you go to Pyrinees in winter you could have a visit to Sariñena lake, it´s in Monegros. In this lake nest the larger number of Bitterns in Spain, about 20 males.

Hello Carson, thanks for the praise.
It's true that Green Honeycreeper's colour is not well drawn in Birds of Costa Rica; it's even worse in Birds of Trinidad & Tobago by R. ffrench, where the bird looks...greyish!
That bluish hue in a bright green plumage is difficult to describe, let alone draw. My photos certainly don't do them justice - wait until you see them in Costa Rica.
Have a great time there, and thanks again.

This is a very well done web site. It has provided me some ideas about where to visit when I travel to Spain in June.
Can you recommend a good field guide? We will be mainly in the area of Madrid.
Thanks and congratulations on your site!
