My first efforts in my own back garden with a Viking Scope have given me some reasonable results.
Has anyone else used this camera for digiscoping
Comments on the photos would be welcomed

Nice job, Grundy!
It is great to see that skilled digiscopers don't necessarily need a Swarovski/Leica/Zeiss to produce enjoyable results. Have you cropped the images or are they just resized? If the sharpness permits, I would like to see them in larger size.
The Canon S-series performs very well in digiscoping (having a relatively short zoom) and may even deliver more than your scope. The reason why it has not been more popular is probably the "image" of difficult attachment to a scope. I know some who use it successfully handheld, but actually it has even an add-on filter adapter, which could be used together with tube adapters.
Keep up the good work,
Ilkka

WOW! That robin is so incredibly sharp - and no signs of chromatic aberration whatsoever. Great job!

Blimey, Grundy - these are excellent! You might have upset the apple cart with those shots - I'm gobsmacked!
;)
Was the camera fixed to the scope, or hand-held?

Excellent pictures. I'm particularly impressed by the depth of field you've achieved. Really nice to see someone getting very, very nice results using "alternative" equipment, proves that it can be done without spending massive sums.
Well done.
Duncan.

I dont get a full LCD screen with a 30X eyepiece. So the image is cropped. I usually use an unsharpen mask (lightly) & add a little bit of brightness/contrast & then a noise filter. The original file size is 1.04MB, cropped it comes down to 506KB, & filtered 381KB. What is the largest file size that I can post on this forum?
The attachment to my scope is a Canon LA-DC10D conversion lense adaptor, plus an F Adaptor (bought off EBay) with a 52x37 stepping ring. Really simple & secure. The F Adaptor fits eyepieces up to 40mm O/D. This puts the camera lense very close to the eyepiece. The zoom is however not smooth.
Thanks for your comments

You can post images of up to 800x600 pixels in your gallery (which I see is currently empty).
I'm sure there's lots of people out there wondering which particular Viking scope you are using.
Regards,
Duncan.

Thanks for the image size for the gallery pictures
The Viking Scope is the AV-80 ED.
