I did not have any success with the ringing of 'our' chicks. The BTO were very interested but not able to put me in touch with local ringers. The babes have now taken their first flight so I'm assuming it's too late to ring them?? If there are any ringers out there from Nth Yorks who can help with please let me know. Cheers

Hi Annie,
it's sad that no-one could be found to do the business. If I lived within easy reach I'd have been there like a shot.
For future use it might be worth getting in touch with your local ringing group- the BTO should be able to tell you who is in charge. I'm sure that there will be a ringer in the group who would be glad of another brood of Swallows to ring, it is just a case of getting the message over.
After they have left the nest, they can still be rung (mist netted) but most ringers are starting to ring swallow roosts in reedbeds now, which are much more productive in terms of numbers of birds.
