Hi all,
reading the recent Mallorca-topic, I was wondering the following: Are there any sites on the island which allow great photo opportunities? I have the guide from Graham Hearl which mentiones two good hides at S'Albufera, but there might be other less well known interesting photo sites. Within 2 weeks I'll be there, so hopefully I'll be able to post some nice pics from that trip soon.
regards,
Luc

Hi Luc
Last year I was at Mallorca and i found the salt lagoons in the southern part of Mallorca very nice to take pics.
The lagoons are placed near Ses Salines, the are called Salines de Lievant.

Hi Reiner,
thanks for responding so quickly. What kind of species were you able to get in front of your lense?

Luc,
Try the Monastery at Lluc and layby near the Roman Aqueduct on the road from Pollenca to Cuber Reservoir for reasonable chance of Black Vulture and other raptors which can be quite close and therefore photographable.
The beach at Puerto Pollenca has very confiding Audouin's Gull, especially in the evening after the sun bathers have left which allow close approach as they scavenge on picnic remains!
The Albufera will give you great photo opportunities, not only from the hides but also form the paths and bridges - the birds here are used to people and can be very confiding (don't miss the big heronry on your left as you enter the park where, Little & Cattle Egret, Squacco, Grey and Night Heron can all be seen and Purple Heron usually nearby) - again fairly close to the path.

You could try out the Cala Bona area (East coast).
They also have quite a few Audouins Gulls, one in particular that seems to like the evening on the beach near the Hotel Alicia, there is also a Kestrel that overnight roosts in on one of the balconys of the apartments to the side of it.
Here is a trip report that IanF did about this area .

Hi all,
thanks for your quick respondings! We're staying in Pollenca, so most of the mentioned sites are easily within reach. I'll let you know if I run into some other good photo sites (by the way, the map at the trip report looks excellent!)
