View Full Version : Help with crows

For the last couple of weeks a pair of crows have been attacking the upstairs windows of the empty house next door. It is worse first thing in the morning when they wake us up hurling themselves at the glass and screaming outside our bedroom window.

This morning when I came downstairs one of the crows was trying to get in our window - I let my dog out and the disappeared temporarily, but they are back on my patio and seem to be in a real flap about something.

Has anyone seen this sort of behaviour before? I am concerned that they are going to break the glass eventually (or hurt themselves). What should I do?

Hi Milli and welcome to Bird Forum.

Don't worry too much about the Crows as they are probably attacking their reflections in the window. Other bird species do it as well especially at this time of the year when they become very territorial.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Thanks Steve,

I hadn't thought of that. I'll keep an eye on them and see what happens.

Hi Milli,

A warm welcome to BirdForum from all the Moderators and Admin.

As Steve says they are probably attacking the "rivals" that they see in the glass. It should cease of its own accord eventually.

You could try sticking transfers (of anything really) on to the window. This may diminish the reflection and make them more reluctant to attack the "rival" that they see in your window.
