I'm sure this was widely reported yesterday, (Thursday) as it was on the pager several times 6m e of Keswick. Eventually it was identified as an Albino Curlew!

I'm sure there must be a photo of this bird and I'd be curious to see one, anyone got a link for report or picture?

How could anyone mistake an albino curlew for a cattle egret? Didn't the bill shape give it away? and why didn't they think it was just an ordinary little egret? this one baffles me!

That baffled me too, and I've never seen a Cattle Egret. However, an Albino Curlew must have been photographed? anybody?
