I have just discovered that at least 2 pairs of Indigo Buntings have showed up at my feeders, what keeps them around, and anymore info would be most appreciated.

Hi CB,

Breeding is top of their minds right now so all that will keep them around is if they decide to breed near you, so suitable habitat is the key ingredient (woodland edges and overgrown fields). They won't stick around just for the food but if they are breeding nearby they may keep coming to use your feeders.

The Indigos were in the local nature trail and were very vocal. Wehn I first heard them I thought Goldfinches but it didn't seem quite right. Two finally flew down out of the top and across my line of sight. They are so pretty.
