Hello Sue

The reintroduction of the kites in the Chilterns consisted of 93 birds released from '89-'94. Only 7 of these were from Wales ("The Red Kite", Ian Carter, 2001), with the majority coming from Spain.

2004 figures indicate over 200 breeding pairs in the Chilterns. Young birds have been taken from nests in the Chilterns for release at other locations in England, more recently in the North East (2004).
