Canon has a new 5MP camera coming out in June with a 12x optical zoon, and a teleconverter lens (optional) that will make it 24x.

The thing I like about this camera (at least on paper) is it has the same processor as the 350D/Rebel XT, and has 30fps movie clips.

My question is given what is known about this camera, would it be better for digiscoping than the D350 or Nikon's D70?

here is the link, thanks.

It's hard to imagine that this camera will be any good for digiscoping, all previous cameras with lenses such as this produce considerable vignetting... it's the lens characteristics that count, not what's inside.
Nice camera none the less.
cheers,
Andy

That was about what I figured, but I was wondering if a DSLR would be better than this?

Is the Vignetting better/worse/same for a 2" eyepiece vs. 1.25?

thanks

Hello!

And now (September of 2006) the Powershot S3 IS hits the S2 IS...:) And it is said that this nice ultrazoom camera not good for digiscoping, just like S1,S2 IS....:((
But it would be nice to see some pics taken with theese ultrazooms!
