Stan: Depends what you mean by budget. Opticron have an excellent reputation for good value and decent quality. Stick to porro prism designs if you want the best value. My sister recently purchased an 8x40 Opticron porro prism glass for about £90 and she is very pleased with it. I had no say in the decision and I am pleased that she made a good choice. Anyway, why not visit a local dealer and compare ones in your budget. DO NOT look through more expensive ones. They are not always better, but when they are, it can lead to expensive decisions.

These are probably the 8x40 Aspheric model which came out as a best buy in the recent BBC Wildlife mag. survey of budget bins (beating Opticrons own Dioptron model).
