Just browsing about to see if i can get a cheapish pair of binos for a birthday present for someone and was wondering if anyone has ever came across Luger binos before?

Luger binos on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10955&item=6184354377&rd=1)

Thanks in advice for any replies!

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,
These look to be the same ones also marketed under the names of Inpro and Strathspey to name but a few. They all come from the same manufacturer in China (not necessarily any the worse for that). You can get them cheaper than the prices of the Luger branded units I've seen on eBay. Sherwoods-photo.co.uk has some Inpro binos on offer at the moment including a 10x42. However, I think the top bargain at the moment is the old model of the Swift Ultra Lite 8x42 porro that's currently at Warehouse Express reduced to £125. These have been very highly rated for optical quality. Hope that's some help.
All the best
John

From what I can tell, they're the exact same bino as the Eagle Optics Platinum Ranger, Alpen Apex, Minolta WP's, and some of the Wind Rivers by Leupold and Cabelas brands. They're made in the same factory and brand labeled for the various retailers. The E.O Platinum Rangers can be had for $100.00 to $150.00USD less than the Lugers and are backed by one of the best warranties in the business.

I'm 95% sure the Smith and Wesson Performance Series binos are the same and can be found on Ebay for less than $200.00USD if you keep your eyes open.

I'll try to post pictures here that show the bino construction is the same, with the placement, configuration, and style of writing even being the same. If the pictures don't work, here's a link to thread on another board where it was discussed. The thread has comparison pictures of the Lugers and E.O Platinum Rangers.
