I have inquired today about the cost of shipping a digital camera from Warehouse express and was told that "Unfortunately we are unable to export any digital goods."
Surely this is not normal after all I buy most IT or photographic equipment from the UK, this morning I bought a scope from SWoptics without any hassle.

I emailed them back asking for a reason why they won't export, has anyone else had any similar problems ? :h?: :h?:

Try Fotosense in Bolton, I think the website is:

www.fotosense.co.uk (http://www.fotosense.co.uk/)

A great company to detail with, I found that most of the time they would match Warehouse Express. Another option would be BH Photographic in the States, they are more than happy to export if you ask them, I don't know how strong the euro is against the Dollar at the moment - Both are worth a try.

Regards

Mark

I get most of my gear from Warehouse Express, with no problems.

Just got a response from them saying that it is because "Unfortinately digital software is rather sensive and from experience we have learned that it is the digital software that is often the problem (if problems occur).

Also our couriers only deliver within the United Kingdom, outside the UK we have to rely on FedEx. Fedex's delivery charges depend on the weight ans size of the parcel and we often find that their delivery charges (including insurance) are almost the same prices as the goods they are shipping. "

I think they mean digital "equipment" and if I was willing to pay for the shipping then it shouldn't matter.

I not really that bothered just puzzled more than anything.

That's cobblers. I'm outside the UK.

I would be surprised if that were the genuine reason but it is probably enough to get them out of EC law. I suspect the non-export stance is more to do with gentlemens agreements with manufacturers.

They have since agreed to post it to Ireland since I gave them a mates address 4 miles up the road in the north of Ireland.

Very strange :h?: :h?:

Isn't that because the Isle of Man & Northern Ireland are in the UK - and S Ireland isn't?

Isle of Man is classed as UK/Great Britain

The Isle of Man is part of the British Isles but not the United Kingdom. The same goes for the Channel Islands. I think these are called Crown Possessions.

Northern Ireland, however, is part of the UK.

Northern Ireland, however, is part of the UK.

They probably see it as being so. I have my own opinion on this subject so lets agree to disagree ! ;)
