Young goldfinches

Like so many BF members, I love to see goldfinches in the garden.
We have had the added pleasure this last week of seeing two young goldfinches. They are very happy to go on the sunflower hearts hanging feeder and also love to go in the cages to feed.
Has anyone actually seen the parents of young goldfinches feeding them? Each year our young ones don't come until they can fend for themselves.

I havn't seen goldfinches feeding young, but I did watch a male house finch feeding a youngster safflower seeds while both were sitting on the feeder.

We've been lucky to have quite a few young goldies fed in the garden. After a few days, the adults seem to say 'ok, you've seen where the food is, now get on with it' and leave them to fend for themselves. :eat:
