I will be visiting Mallorca with the family for 2 weeks and we are staying near Capdepera (Arta area).
Ofcourse i will be visiting S'ALbufera. Im more a birdphotographer than a birdwatcher and was wondering if anyone can give me some advise for GOOD places to photography birds. (any good hides etc etc)
Im no digiscoper but use a Nikon D2X and a 200-400 VR with converters, so need to have the birds in reasonable close range.
Anyway advise most appreciated!

Hi DC,
Welcome to Birdforum.
It is a place I go to every year and love it. Here is a report about the Cala Bona area which is not to far from Arta.

Hi Dutch Courage,
On behalf of Admin and the Moderators weclome to Bird Forum :t:
We visit the east coast of Majorca each September, staying a little further south than you at Cala Bona. We don't usually visit the birding hot spots as such, but just find our own locations in that area - mainly scrub land. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you find the same. Last year saw several Wryneck from 20-25', Sardinian Warblers are always about, likewise Crossbill and Hoopoe.
If you travel down to that area then it's worth a trip along to Costa de los Pinos. Park at the bus terminus and wander around the roads which are lined with pine trees. We've always had Crossbill, Goldcrest and Hoopoe from quite close views.
We usually to travel up to Cala Ratjada for the Audouins Gull and Shag on the sea wall - from very close view and Crossbill on the walk up to the light house - which is usually good for Swallowtails butterflies as well.
I keep intending to stop off at Capdepera one day for a better look at the cliff top castle - also I seem to recall there is a good location that area for Thekla Lark.
I'm sure some of the more knowlegable members will be along to help out with a few more locations to visit.
