Got up at 5:45 the am. Whilst getting my breakfast my Lab dog told me he wanted to go in the garden. So taking a bowl of cereal with me we both went outside. We have one large Birch Tree and a Robin was singing its little head off ( couldn't see the megaphone it was using, shouldn't be allowed when people are still in bed ). A group of 4 birds flew in and were silhouetted against the sky. Small birds, insect eating bills!. I nipped back indoors for the bins, and, Blackcaps, 4 of them!. Never seen any in my garden before, and now 4 of them at once!.
Must get out earlier more often!.

It's the dog from the Lab I'm worried about: LOL
It makes me wonder just what birds do drop into our gardens whilst we are tucked up in our beds. Nice find Alan.

He should be in a Lab!.
Thick as two short planks. Assumes any door will open if its head butted hard enough. Deaf as a post from almost continuous ear infections. Moults 360 days a year. But its those big brown eyes that talk to you and gets me out for an hour or two birding every day.
But. Enough about the wife.

Its happened again!.
Got home from work last night, went upstairs to get changed into jeans etc to take the dog & myself for a walk. Trousers off, shirt coming off, staring out of the window into my huge birch tree to see if anythings there when I notice a little bird, hmm Wren, no shouldnt be, to high & exposed. Goldcrest?. Looks like a Goldcrest, must get downstars to the Bins, but first the jeans ( have you noticed how difficult it is to run witrh jeans halway up/down and feet still in legs? ). Anyway, get downstairs in one piece and moraless decent. Grab bins, focus, and YES!!. My first garden Goldcrest, just a week after my first Garden Blackcap.
I love that Birch tree!.
