Urban foxes dumped to die in country...............
Squeamish city dwellers who are unwilling to see animals killed are being blamed for an alleged epidemic of “fox dumping” in the countryside. Country dwellers are complaining of mange-infested town foxes being released into fields at night by pest control companies and say that the animals, which do not make good sport for hunters, are spreading disease among their rural cousins and endangering livestock. Many of the foxes are so disoriented that they starve, unable to fend for themselves.

Groups voice fears for badgers' safety......................
Spring may be in the air but Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT) and Herts & Middlesex Badger Group (HMBG) can report an increase in badger digging now that the evenings are getting lighter. In the last two weeks there have been reports at Chorleywood Dell Nature Reserve near Rickmansworth and in the Hertford area of illegal digging of badger setts. Although police have been informed, both groups fear that a wave of cruelty to one of the largest indigenous mammals has started up. Despite their popularity and legislation to protect them, badgers are still in danger from digging and baiting by a minority of criminals who torment and kill them for "sport".

Conservationists' counting frogs plea.................
Conservationists have raised fears about falling number of frogs in the Spa. The Worcestershire Wildlife Trust (WWT) is urging residents to contact them with information about frogs in their area. WWT spokesman Geoff Travis said: "There are growing fears that the frog population in Worcestershire is dropping. We need evidence for this so we can find out why and do something about it. "We would like some help with the following questions: How many frogs have you seen? When was frogspawn first seen? Did the frogspawn survive or sink to the bottom of the pond, or did birds eat it? Have you seen sick or dead frogs?"
