Does anyone have these bino's? and if so how do they stand up in the field? i had my 10's classics stolen and have a chance to purchase the 8's. Please let me know what you think.

This might work better in the Zeiss section. I looked through the Victory only once, in a camera shop. Those who've posted here who own them seem to think highly of them. Some enthusiasts have thought the optics were not as sharp as they should be (however, owners seem to be delighted), but the construction quality has never been questioned, AFAIK.

I recently had my Classic 10's stolen... I now have the chance to purchase a pair of Victory 8x 42's. Anyone have these binc's and if so how do they compare in the field to other binc's.

FWIW www.cloudynights.com has a comparative review. There's also some comments on this site in old threads, which a search should find.

I'm unsure of the model to which you are referring.
I have a pair of Victory 2's, but they are 8x40;excellent bins though.

I bought them just as the FL was coming in and am very happy with the performance and the price. Let's say I paid about half of what the FL costs (list price). The low light view is outstanding, the edges could be sharper but what really stands out is the ability to view through these all day with no fatigue. ( I wear glasses)
We have some celestron nobles and Nikon Monarchs in the 8 x 40s and while they are good bins I prefer the Victories. They are a bit heavier at about 26 oz. but the view is better, brighter, sharper and like I said easier on the eyes. I recommend them.
If I saw them in a store I'd buy a second pair for the wife. She likes the view through the Victories.

As others have said, this must read 8x40 not 42. These are very fine binoculars with some flaws that have led to the new FLs. Main problem with the old type is some very strong flare under specific light conditions. Mainly when you look against the light, but also when one looks into a dark area but has a bright spot in the field of view. This is said to hold only for the original model, often referred to as Victory I. Mostly, however, these are really excellent, light-weight and bright binoculars.
And in a later version, the Victory II, that flare problem seems to have been eliminated to a large part. Usually, the two types can be distinguished by their strap attachment. But apparently, it is easy to change that attachment.

One thread to the same topic would make more sense. I.e. either general OR under the specific brand.
