Hi I am thinking of buying the Canon 500mm IS f4 lens with (probably) a Canon EOS20d, but want to TRY BEFORE I BUY. (I am a Nikon user at present).

Can you recommend any dealers which have the lens IN STOCK where I could visit and try the lens? I live in Norfolk.

Thanks,

Kevin

How about renting first ?

Try here

http://www.fixationuk.com/rentlist.htm

Not in Norfolk I admit but might be worth a visit.

incidentally I have no knowledge of fixationuk so cant comment on how they work etc, perhaps other members may have used them.

cheers

You can purchase items from Mifsuds.com and if you are not happy can return in 10days,for a full refund. No questions asked. They do have a wide variety of used items.I tried the same lens from them as a used item, but had to return simply due to the weight. Why not check out their website and give them a ring.It was the non IS version.

Try London Camera Exchange, The Strand (LCE) or York Cameras, 18 Bury Place, 0207 831 8082, another choice is Jessops opposite Charing X who will price match Warehouse Exchange IMO and last but not least is cameraworld.co,uk, 020 7636 5005. They all have a good range of products but York Cameras seem, IMHO to have an attitude that "we do not have a price match policy"? But they will have a stock of obscure items and a showroom in Central London so you pay the opportunity cost and play before you buy,

hope this helps?
