Hi Guys
Newbie here, asking the oldest question in the book.
Just bought Swarovski ATS.80 with 20x60 zoom. Would like to start digiscoping. Which camera, in your opinions, is the best up to this date.
Birdwatch Oct.2005 carried article about the new Sony W7. Is this the one or has anyone got any feedback for me on this camera.
Looking for the best recommendations please guys to complement the scope, how to fit & where to buy.
Cheers

Hi Mike,
Welcome to Bird Forum :t:
Can't say I've ever looked at that camera myself. The Nikon CP4500 was the long-standing digiscopers camera for several years but it's been discontinued now. I use one myself with the Swaro scope and they can still be bought new in the UK.
The Canon A95 seems to be one of the favoured cameras nowadays as does the Olympus C7070. I'm sure there are others though.
One tip is that with Bird Forum being so large, members do have quite a spread of equipment and post photos in the Gallery - a search on Sony W7 brought back these results - Sony W7 photos (http://www.birdforum.net/pp_gallery/showgallery.php?mcats=all&si=Sony%20W7&what=allfields&name=&when=&whenterm=) . I see that Gariel Rassen - one of the top BF photographers has been using the Sony with the Swaro scope so the photos show what results can be obtained.
To check out examples of any equipment photos just go the the Gallery (on first visit you'll have to log in) and use the advanced search feature and enter the camera in question.

I saw someone using this camera along with an Opticron scope at the weekend and had a go with it. It seems like a good digiscoping camera, the large screen made focusing fairly easy. 7.1mp will allow you to do a fair amount of cropping and still get very useable pictures. The Zeiss lens is good quality, so should give you good sharp images.
If you are using the current Swarovski scope then the bracket adaptor (£200) would be ideal with this camera an dwould give a great digiscoping set up.
