I've read in the manual that the maximum card size i can use in this camera is 1gb.

im in the process of buying a card and would like to know if this is true or is anyone using a larger capacity card?

Apparently 2GB cards have been used successfully in a large number of Panasonic cameras. Here's post confirming use in FZ-20 :

P.S. That's not saying all 2GB cards will work of course!... Also the FAT16 file system puts 2GB as the upper limit.
