So, new DSLR, but no filters. The one filter I can not live without is a circular polarisor. I will be using it mainly on a 28-75 f2.8 but will probably use it with another zoom up to 200mm (a future purchase).
I used to use the Cokin system with the relevant adaptors for my lenses. This still seems the cost effective choice - anyone have any comments on quality compared to a screw-on type (e.g. Hoya pro)?
The other filters I used to use are less relevant with a digital body, most of the effects are easily applied in PS or PSP.
However, a Cokin mount, polarisor and 2 lens adaptor rings is much cheaper than 2 dedicated filters.
On a similar thought process, if I get a 500mm that takes 'drop-in' filters, do they need to be of a particular type (obviously the correct size for the slot!)?
Cheers Mark.
