I have been considering this Motion sensitive software (http://www.homewatcher.com) and have been wondering whether it will take the requirement for patience out of digiscoping?

It requires a webcam but is it possible to setup a digital still camera to do the same job?

There is a free download version as well as a pay version.

I mean, just imagine it, you set up your digiscope, camera and lap top on your favourite tree branch, go away, come back and you have the best bird photos automatically downloaded onto your laptop hard drive.

What can be simpler or have I missed some technical problem? :brains: 8-P

Not sure about the technical wizardry needed, so couldn't comment on how effective it would be.

However I'm not too sure what the point is - for me the rewards from photography and digiscoping come when I finally get a decent shot after hours of trying and stacks of poor photos. If you're going to let a computer program do it all for you why not just save yor money and look at other peoples pictures.

Aye, me too.

With my Nikon D70, I can set up something popularly referred to as "trap focus" which - in effect - allows the camera to be set to a specific point of focus where it will sit for as long as the user holds down the AF lock button; but as soon as something enters the view at that focal point, the camera automatically takes the shot.

In one sense it sounds like an excellent way to capture good bird images: but to me it sounds like cheating!

Have you seen the Zigview-R at warehouse express (http://www.warehouseexpress.co.uk)?

TTL motion detector/trigger. Looks good to me.
