This news just in. Two months ago staff members of Birdlife International Cambodia found 70 individuals of the White-shouldered Ibis in the wetlands of Western Siem Pang. Details and photograph at birdlife.org.

Brilliant news. I visited the general area last year, there must be a chance of a few more being found yet too, it is a very large area. I like the photo, gripping! Megafauna!
A real pat on the back for the WCS team and Birdlife for the projects they have set up there. Without them these and the Giant Ibis would be in real danger, they have got the local communities involved in conserving them, by raising awareness and cash for them, in surely one of the best ways of conservation I've witnessed. Keep up the good work lads.

Superb news once again, thats a stunning photo that Jonathan Eames has taken, amazing that so many still exist there. I was in Northern Cambodia just last week and saw White-shouldered Ibis a few times, but my maximum flock was just 5 birds, still quite a sight, also 2 Giant Ibis.
Wish conservation worked so well in other countries as it does in Cambodia...
