Hi folks,
I'm starting a new thread for my patch outings. Hopefully it will be better than the 2005 thread, with sketches/photos and other stuff.
So my first outing on the Stort was yesterday, 7/1/06. It was damp with constant little drops of snow and sleet. However the birds were quite active. A pair of Grey Herons flew low in front of me, as well as a pair of Cormorants that flew round throughout the day. Flocks of Fieldfare totalled 120+, however only 2 Redwing were seen. A Goldcrest was a nice sight, along with a Kestrel that kept making appearances.
Total species count: 31
Little Grebe
Cormorant
Grey Heron
Mallard
Kestrel
Moorhen
Coot
Black-headed Gull
Wood Pigeon
Collared Dove
Green Woodpecker
Great Spotted Woodpecker
Wren
Dunnock
Robin
Song Thrush
Redwing
Fieldfare
Blackbird
Goldcrest
Jay
Magpie
Rook
Carrion Crow
Jackdaw

Cheers, Mark
