I'm trying to track down a "recent" record of Philemon brassi in the lower Mamberamo river.

Birdlife state online <http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/ebas/index.html?action=SpcHTMDetails.asp&sid=5317&m=0>
"Philemon brassi is endemic to northern Papua (formerly Irian Jaya), Indonesia. It was discovered in 1939 on a single lagoon on the Idenburg River which may not have been visited subsequently and has recently been found along the lower Mamberamo River. Bruce Beehler does Not know of this record and I do not have access to Stattersfield et al (1998).

Can anyone shed some light on this mysterious, but important record?

Thanks
Nev Kemp

Neville,
I have a RAP from Wapoga somewhere on my HDD. Will search for it and send it on.

Neville,

Steve is right. There were sightings made at Wapoga Alpha and Logari, were it was found to be fairly common. A few more details are on the worldtwitch site: worldtwitch.com/australasia_pacific.htm

Hi Hidde,
Yeah, but I sent Neville a useless file, that I am sure he knows about already. In object is tracking down a lost record only from the lower Mamberamo - apparently in the volume Endemic Bird Areas of the World.
